Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about repairs, custom builds, pickup & delivery, and pricing.
General
What hours are you open?
We're open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9am to 11pm, and Tuesday/Thursday from 11am to 11pm. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments get faster turnaround. Call (786) 479-7690 or use the booking form to reserve a slot.
Where are you located?
Our shop is at 3779 SW 135th Ave, Miami, FL 33175, in the Kendall area. We also offer pickup and delivery throughout Miami-Dade for a small fee.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash, Zelle, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Payment is collected after the repair is complete and tested — never upfront for standard repairs.
What devices and brands can you repair?
Windows laptops and desktops — Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, MSI, Razer — plus custom-built PCs and gaming rigs. We don't currently service Apple MacBooks, tablets, phones, or game consoles, but can point you to a trusted local shop that does.
Are there any repairs you don't do?
Yes — to keep our turnaround fast and our work high-quality, we don't currently take on:
• Cracked screen replacements (laptop or monitor)
• Apple MacBooks / iMacs — we focus on Windows hardware
• Board-level soldering or BGA reflow (corroded boards, chip-off recovery, etc.)
If you're not sure whether your issue falls into one of these, just call (786) 479-7690 and we'll let you know honestly before you bring it in.

Do you offer a warranty?
Yes — every repair comes with a 90-day labor warranty, and custom builds carry a 1-year build warranty. Component warranties pass through from the manufacturer.
Laptop & Desktop Repair
My laptop won't turn on. What's the diagnostic fee?
Diagnostics are $60 — and that fee is fully credited toward the repair if you proceed. We'll tell you exactly what's wrong (power supply, battery, drive, RAM, etc.) and what it'll cost to fix before any work begins.
My laptop is stuck in a boot loop — can you fix that?
Yes — boot loops, blue screens, and "preparing automatic repair" loops are a routine fix. Most are caused by a bad Windows update, a failing drive, a driver conflict, or a corrupted user profile. We diagnose, repair without wiping when possible, and recover your files first if the drive is failing.
How much does it cost to replace a laptop battery?
Battery replacements typically run $99–$179 including parts and labor, depending on the model. Most Windows laptops are same-day once the battery is in stock.
My laptop got liquid spilled on it — is it salvageable?
Often yes, but speed matters. Power it off, don't try to turn it on, and bring it in same-day. We do non-soldering cleanup — ultrasonic board cleaning, drying, and component swap-outs where possible — and recover your data first. If the spill needs board-level micro-soldering, we'll tell you upfront and refer you out.
Can you repair desktops too, or just laptops?
Both. Desktops are usually easier — we diagnose PSU, motherboard, GPU, RAM, drive, and cooling issues, and most repairs are same-day since parts are standardized.
Custom PC Builds
Do custom PC builds come with a warranty?
Yes — every custom build includes a 1-year build warranty covering labor, assembly, and cable management. Individual components (CPU, GPU, motherboard, etc.) carry their own manufacturer warranties, which we register for you. See custom PC builds in Miami.
How much does a custom build cost?
Our build fee is a flat $149, plus the cost of parts. Total budgets typically range from $800 (budget gaming/office) to $4,000+ (high-end gaming or workstation). We'll work to your exact budget — no upselling.
Can I supply my own parts?
Absolutely. Bring them, ship them, or have Amazon deliver to our shop — we'll handle the rest. We'll also verify everything is compatible before you buy if you send us a parts list.
How long does a custom build take?
Most builds are completed in 3–7 days from when all parts arrive. That includes assembly, cable management, BIOS configuration, OS install, driver setup, and a full stress-test pass.
Will you help me pick parts?
Yes — parts consultation is included. Tell us your budget and what you'll use it for (gaming, video editing, streaming, AI/ML, office, etc.) and we'll recommend a balanced build. We don't push specific brands.
Data Recovery
How much does data recovery cost?
Logical recovery (deleted files, corrupted partitions, formatted drives) starts at $129. Physical recovery (clicking, failed, or water-damaged drives) ranges $250–$500 depending on the failure mode. The free evaluation tells you exactly what we can recover before any charge.
Can you recover data from a drive that's clicking or not detected?
Often yes. Clicking drives usually have read-head issues that require specialized equipment — we'll evaluate the drive at no cost and quote a fixed price. See our data recovery service page.
What about ransomware — can you decrypt my files?
Sometimes. We check whether the variant has a public decryptor available (many do), attempt shadow-copy recovery, and look for backups you may not know exist. We never pay ransoms or recommend you do.
Will my data stay private?
Yes. Drives are kept in a locked workstation, never connected to the internet during recovery, and securely wiped on request after data is returned. We sign an NDA if your situation requires one.
How long does data recovery take?
Logical recoveries usually finish in 1–2 days. Physical recoveries take 3–7 days depending on the drive condition and the volume of data being extracted.
Virus & Malware Removal
How long does a virus removal take?
Most virus and malware cleanups are completed the same day — typically 2–4 hours of active work. Ransomware or deeply rooted infections may take 1–2 days. We never reinstall Windows unless it's truly necessary. Learn more about virus removal.
Will I lose my files during a malware cleanup?
No — we always image the drive first if there's any risk, and we don't wipe anything without your explicit OK. Your photos, documents, and installed programs stay intact unless they're part of the infection.
Do you install antivirus software?
Yes. We install and configure enterprise-grade security tools (Microsoft Defender hardening on Windows, or Malwarebytes Premium if preferred). We don't sell subscriptions you don't need.
I clicked a phishing link — what should I do?
Disconnect from Wi-Fi, change passwords on a different device for any accounts that use the same email, and bring the computer in for a scan. The sooner we look, the easier it is to contain.
Hardware Upgrades
Will an SSD really make my old PC faster?
Dramatically — usually 5–10× faster boot, app launch, and file access. It's the single best upgrade for any computer 4+ years old. Labor is $59 plus the drive itself ($50–$200 depending on capacity). See hardware upgrades.
Can you migrate my Windows install to a new SSD without losing anything?
Yes — OS migration is included in our SSD install service. Your apps, files, settings, and Windows activation all carry over exactly as they were.
How much RAM do I actually need?
16GB is the minimum for a modern setup — anything less and Windows + Chrome alone will eat it. 32GB is what we recommend for modern gaming, multitasking, video editing, streaming, 3D work, VMs, or heavy browser use. 64GB+ is overkill for most people unless you're doing serious creative or AI work. We'll check what's actually using your RAM before recommending an upgrade.
Can you upgrade the GPU in my pre-built desktop?
Usually yes, provided your power supply and case can handle it. We verify PSU wattage, connector availability, and physical clearance before recommending a GPU — no surprises after purchase.
Everyday Tech Help
I have a list of small things — can you handle all of them in one visit?
Yes, that's exactly what the Everyday Tech Help service is for. Bring (or send) your full list — printer that won't connect, slow Wi-Fi, password recovery, account cleanup, software installs, smart-home odds and ends, that one weird popup — and we'll work through it in one sitting. Billed at $75/hr; most visits are 1–2 hours.
Do you do home tech help — printers, Wi-Fi, smart devices?
Yes. Home printer setup, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, smart-TV / streaming-stick configuration, smart-home device pairing, router and mesh setup — all part of Everyday Tech Help. We come to you for on-site work in the Miami-Dade area, or you can drop devices off at the shop.
Can you help with software setup, accounts, and parental controls?
Absolutely. Installing and configuring software, recovering accounts, setting up parental controls on Windows and routers, organizing files, configuring backups, migrating to a new computer — anything you'd hand to a tech-savvy family member if you had one.
Is there a minimum charge for the small stuff?
One-hour minimum at $75. If we wrap up in 30 minutes, you can use the remaining time for anything else on your list — we don't watch the clock to push extras.
Pickup & Delivery
Do you offer pickup and delivery in Miami?
Yes — we offer pickup and delivery throughout Miami-Dade county for $25–$40 depending on distance. Schedule via the booking form or call us. Pickup is usually same-day if booked before 2pm.
What areas do you cover?
Kendall, Pinecrest, Coral Gables, Doral, Miami Lakes, Westchester, South Miami, Coconut Grove, Downtown Miami, Brickell, and most of Miami-Dade. Outside that radius is possible — just ask.
Is pickup secure? How do you handle my device?
Your device travels in a padded case, you get a written receipt at pickup, and we send you a photo when it arrives at the shop. All techs are insured and background-checked.
Can you do on-site repairs?
For software issues, virus removal, network setup, and consultations — yes, in many cases. Hardware repairs go faster in the shop because of specialized equipment, so we usually pick up, repair, and return.
